Due to the higher security in Windows 2000 and XP, you may not be able to install or run some programs with the standard User account. By default, Windows 2000/XP does not let a standard user or guest account run programs that access the registry or the operating system files. These programs will work properly if you use a Power User account or an account with higher privileges. Users are the opposite of administrators.
